The easy steps to create a DIY weave ponytail

2 min read

From celebrities like Beyonce to Ariana Grande, it is clear that high ponytails are more of a trendsetter. Though ponytails with bundles has been in demand for the past few years, the standard versions are now replaced by supersized and styled high ponytails.

And the best part is, you don’t need hair like Rapunzel to get that look; you can create a high ponytail with bundles and fake it till you make it. Additionally, you don’t even need a professional hairstylist to master this famous hairdo.

We must admit that there is something utterly indistinguishable about these high ponytails that makes you feel empowered. It makes you feel professional and that you are ready to conquer the world with your high ponytail with bundles.

Unfortunately for fashion stylists, high ponytails can cause a lot of tension to your hair and lead to premature hair breakage.

It is why the last thing you want is to create a flawless style that might look good on you, but in the process, it can damage your hair beyond repair. In other words, you might end up doing a right in a really wrong way.

So, whether your hair is straight or curly, the following are some steps you can create a high ponytail with bundles from the comfort of your home without any professional hairstylist.

The things you’ll need:

A hair weave of your hair type and choice

A hair moisturiser

Hairbrush and comb

Stick bobby pins

Hair gel

Hair scrunchies

Hairspray

Step 1: With clean hair, moisturise and detangle your locks

First, you need to brush your hair. Moisturiseyour hair before brushing keeps it hydrated and smooth. It also detangles your hair and prevents breakage and makes brushing easier. If you have natural hair, then this step is essential to perform.

Step 2: Part your hair and decide the placement of your ponytail

You can wear your ponytail up or down, depending on how you want it. Ifyou part your hair, make sure to keep it as straight as possible. Use a fine-tooth comb for the same.

Step 3: Lay your foundation by placing your natural hair in a sleek ponytail

Brush your hair and make it into a ponytail using the scrunchies. Apply a generous amount of styling gel to your hair and smoothen your natural hair into a ponytail. Once your ponytail is gelled down, tuck it into a chignon.

Step 4: Lay the weave on a flat surface and double the weft of your hair

Fold the weave in half. Go with a high ponytail with bundles. However, if you want it to have more volume, repeat this step with additional weave or hair.

Step 5: Secure it with bobby pins

Keep your hair in the right place using bobby pins. If you’re doing a ponytail with the bundles’method, secure the wefts to the end. Two bobby pins should be enough to get the job done.
