What exactly is a holographic sticker?
Holographic stickers are premium stickers that get printed on metallic rainbow effect material. The rainbow material is used to give your design beautiful, metallic effects.
Here is a great example:
To get metallic colors, simply don’t print a white layer of ink behind the color. White ink is very opaque (non-see-thru), so it will block out the metallic effect of the vinyl. Whereas most colors are slightly transparent, so you’ll get incredible metallic colors, as you can see in the image above.
How do holographic stickers get made?
Holographic stickers get printed on a metallic effect, vinyl film that’s usually made from a PET. This film is really durable and has a layer of glue on the back to make your sticker self-adhesive.
Printers then apply a layer of ink, in CMYK+W (cyan, yellow, magenta, black + white) to create whatever design you want. Finally a protective layer of clear, over-laminate is applied to protect your sticker.

The layers are:
- A clear laminate sits on top, protecting the sticker from fading, scratches & water.
- Your design is printed in full color at high resolution.
- Holographic, rainbow effect vinyl gives your design metallic & dazzling effects.
- A medium strength makes holographic stickers ideal for most uses.
- The thick backing paper gives a premium feel and makes them easy to peel.
