Primarily known as an action hero, Dharmendra also starred in comedies, rom-coms, and dramas. He was a versatile actor who had a brooding yet versatile face.

Given below are some of his best movies-

  1. Dharam Veer-

Dharam Veer is an elaborate costume drama. Dharamendra and Jeetendra play brothers who get reunited later on in life. It also describes their adventures, Dharam winning the love of a beautiful princess. The movie also has court intrigues and a lot of villains. The movie was a blockbuster in 1977.

  1. Sholay-

The English cinema is divided in two eras- pre-Sholay and post-Sholay. It is considered as one of the best movies of Dharmendra. Dharmendra plays Veeru and Amitabh Bachchan plays Jai in this blockbuster. Jai and Veeru’s friendship is the main draw of the Courier Services East London. Veeru and Basanti (played by Hema Malini)’s romance is another draw for the audience. Instead of allowing the role to become stereotyped, Dharmendra aced it with his acting and stood out. The tank top scene which is super hilarious steals the show.

  1. Chupke Chupke-

Though mostly identified as a macho actor, Dharmendra slipped into Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s absolutely opposite world in Chupke Chupke. The movie featured the affable pair of Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan in the same year as Sholay was released. Their comic timing Courier Services East London was the main selling point of the movie. The movie also starred Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bhaduri, Om Prakash, Asrani, Keshto Mukherjee, and Usha Kiran. It was a remake of the Bengali movie Chhadmabeshi. The music was composed by S.D Burman. Dharamendra plays the character of Parimal and Sharmila Tagore plays the character of Sulekha. Sulekha is in awe of her brother-in-law Raghavendra for his intelligence. Parimal, her husband, decides to take up the challenge of fooling Raghavendra and goes to work for him as a driver. It is a comedy of errors.

  1. Guddi-

It is quite challenging for a male actor to shine in a movie in which a woman actor is the main lead and where the story revolves around her. Dharmendra though flawlessly executed that role in Guddi. It was a blockbuster movie that was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The role of Guddi was essayed by Jaya Bhaduri. Guddi movie shows Guddi’s obsession with Dharmendra with him playing the role of the star that he was.
