The Board of Control for Cricket in India\nopened applications for the Indian Cricket Team\u2019s new support staff. The\npresent support staff is consists of head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach\nBharat Arun, assistant coach Sanjay Bangar, and fielding coach R. Sridhar. They\nwere given a 45-day extension after their contracts expired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The position for the Men in Blue\u2019s head coach\nis a hot topic on cricket fans. Ravi Shastri is the present head coach of the\nIndian Cricket Team. He was appointed on his post after Anil Kumble\u2019s exit in\n2017. Under his coaching career, the Indian Cricket Team have won a Test series\nin Australia and lifted the 2018 Asia Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deadline for the applications has reached\nand there are numerous applicants for the head coach post who are notable\ncricketers in the sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Mike Hesson<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Hesson is the former head coach of the New\nZealand cricket team for six years. His tenure of the Kiwis was successful as\nthe team reached the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup final. He also served as a coach for Argentina and\nKenya, and also Otago in NZ domestic cricket. He is currently the head coach of\nKings XI Punjab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Mahela Jayawardene<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Jayawardene is one of the greatest batsmen in\ncricket history who scored more than 20,000 international runs. He achieved the\nhighest test score by a right-handed batsman in the history of test cricket\nwhereas he scored 374 against South Africa. Currently, he is the head coach of\nMumbai Indians. This year, the team won their 4th title at the Indian Premier\nLeague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. Tom Moody<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Tom Moody is the current coach of the\nSunrisers Hyderabad. He was also named as Montreal Tigers coach for the 2019\nGlobal T20 Canada tournament. Moody led Sri Lanka to the 2007 World Cup final\nand coached Western Australia during the 2007 Big Bash League. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. Gary Kirsten<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Kirsten was a former cricketer who played 101\nTest matches and 185 ODIs in his entire career. He served as the Indian Cricket\nTeam\u2019s coach from 2008 to 2011. Then he was appointed for the same post for the\nSouth African Team in 2011 but resigned from his post in 2013. Kirsten also\ncoached Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aside from these four names, there also two\nother applicants which include Robin Singh, a former all-rounder who previously\nserved as the Indian cricket team\u2019s fielding coach, and Lalchand Rajput,\nZimbabwe\u2019s current head coach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The BCCI received 2,000 applications for the\nhead coach position. According to Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) co-member\nAnshuman Gaekwad, they will sit down to interview the short-listed candidates.\nThey might find someone who suits the position. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
