The NCAA bracketology discussions are heating up as the season goes on in college basketball. It is never too early to talk about March Madness since it is less than two months away. It will be here before we know it. Conference play is currently going on in college basketball.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many <\/span>March Madness bets<\/span><\/a> that are currently being placed. There is also an argument for several teams to potentially be the number one overall seed in this year\u2019s NCAA Tournament. Who are those teams?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Houston Cougars<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Houston Cougars are one of the best teams in college basketball once again this season under head coach Kelvin Sampson. Houston has been to the Final Four once over the past couple of seasons. The Cougars have an 18-1 overall record so far this season and they are 6-0 in conference play in the American Athletic Conference.<\/span><\/p>\n

Houston is currently one of the top four teams in the country. They can run the table at their conference because it isn\u2019t that strong. If they run the table, the Houston Cougars will have a great case to be the number one overall seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Houston has a great basketball program in place moving forward and they aren\u2019t going anywhere anytime soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kansas Jayhawks\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Kansas Jayhawks are one of the top teams in the BIG12 Conference so far this season. Kansas has a 16-2 overall record and they also have a 5-1 conference record. The Jayhawks are the defending National Champions and defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels a season ago in the National Championship Game.<\/span><\/p>\n

They might have the most talented and balanced team in the entire country. Bill Self is the head coach of this basketball team. The BIG12 conference is probably the best conference in college basketball once again. Kansas might get the benefit of the doubt because of their reputation and how good their conference is once again this season. As long as they don\u2019t lose too many games within the conference, the number one overall seed is without a question in play once again for this basketball program this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purdue Boilermakers<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Purdue Boilermakers have been one of the most consistent college basketball programs over the past couple of seasons. Purdue has been ranked number one overall in the country for a couple of weeks so far throughout the 2022-2023 college basketball season. The Boilermakers are currently 17-1 overall so far this season and have a 6-1 overall record in the BiG10 conference.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt Painter is the head coach of this basketball team. They have a great shot of going all the way this season. Center Zach Edey is probably the best player in the country at the moment. He could very well win the National Player Of the Year Award this season. Edey is the main reason why this basketball team is one of the best in the country. It will be interesting to see how far he can take the Purdue Boilermakers come March.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alabama Crimson Tide<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Alabama Crimson Tide is known for getting number-one seeds in the sport of football and not necessarily for the sport of basketball. Alabama is currently the best team in the SEC conference and it is a very good conference to play in this season. Their head coach is Nate Oats and he has put this basketball program on the map.<\/span><\/p>\n

They have a 16-2 overall record so far this season and have a 6-0 conference record in the SEC. The Crimson Tide feels like the weakest team of the four potential number one overall seed candidates at the current moment for the 2023 NCAA Tournament. They also kind of feel vulnerable and don\u2019t have the marquee names some of the other top-tier programs have in the country. Alabama at the end may feel like more of a two-seed than a one-seed depending on what happens in conference play the rest of the way also. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
