Female Anopheles mosquito carries the virus in her saliva and transfers it to healthy individuals by biting them.<\/li>\r\n<li>From\u00a0 a pregnant woman to her fetus<\/li>\r\n<li>By the exchange of body fluids<\/li>\r\n<li>Through blood transfusion<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Symptoms of zika<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In most cases, affected individuals do not show any symptoms or will only have mild symptoms. The most common symptoms are<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Fever<\/li>\r\n<li>Rash on skin<\/li>\r\n<li>Allergy<\/li>\r\n<li>Severe headache<\/li>\r\n<li>Joint pain<\/li>\r\n<li>Pain in bones and muscles<\/li>\r\n<li>Red eyes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Symptoms last for several days to a week. The condition of the patient is usually stable and he\/she seldom visits the hospital. Once an individual has been infected with zika, they are likely to <a href=\"https:\/\/manhattanmedicalarts.com\/conditions-symptoms\/zika-virus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>be protected from future infections<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1427\" src=\"http:\/\/aikdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Zika-virus-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"602\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How can you protect yourself against zika<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Unfortunately, there is no vaccine against zika. The best is to protect yourself and your family from mosquito bites. Following are some of the methods for protection against zika.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Clothing<\/li>\r\n<li>Try to completely cover your body with clothes.<\/li>\r\n<li>Wear full sleeved shirts and long pants.<\/li>\r\n<li>Treat your clothing and gear with permethrin or use pretreated items.<\/li>\r\n<li>Insect repellent<\/li>\r\n<li>Always use EPA (environmental protection agency) registered insect repellents with one of the following active ingredients:<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Picaridin, DEET, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus or para-menthane-diol. Always follow the instructions written on the product\u2019s label.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Insect repellents are proven to be safe and effective for pregnant and lactating women. Avoid using insect repellents on babies younger than 2 months. Zika virus is suspected in subjects who have a close association with zika patients or live near areas where zika is epidemic.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Treatment of zika virus<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There is no available treatment for zika virus or its associated diseases.
